STS Bible Training for Women seeks to equip women in the small places of New England to study the Bible for themselves and help others do the same.

The heart of Small Town Summits is to see the small places of New England filled with gospel-centered, community-engaged churches and Christian workers, for the glory of God. STS Bible Training for Women is one way we hope to fulfill that mission. By offering one-day Bible training seminars, STS Bible Training for Women seeks to equip women in the small places of New England to study the Bible for themselves and help others learn to do the same.

On March 23rd, 2024 Small Town Summits hosted our fourth “Small Town Summits Bible Training For Women.” This event aimed at equipping women in the small places to study narratives in the Bible for themselves and to help others do the same.

We met at Machias Valley Baptist Church at 8 Broadway St, Machias, ME.

Bible Training for Women

How to study a Narrative

God has chosen to reveal his character and redemptive plan through the Bible, including the events of history we find recorded. In fact, over 40% of the Bible is comprised of narratives. But sometimes it's hard to know how to study and apply the stories we read. We may wrestle with questions like, ”How do specific stories fit in the overall narrative of the Bible? How do we rightly apply a narrative that happened thousands of years ago to the here and now? Are the narratives in the Bible merely “moral” examples for us to learn from, or is there more for us to see?”

On March 23rd, we learned what it looks like to study a narrative by digging into Exodus 1 and 2. As we spent the day walking through these narratives, we learned and practiced a variety of skills that will help us in future Bible studies to better understand how to study and apply the stories of the Bible to our lives.

Women’s Bible Training is a great opportunity for women of all ages who are interested in learning to lead a Bible study; women who want to implement Bible study into their discipleship relationships; and women who simply want to learn how to better study the Bible on their own. Our desire is that these yearly trainings would not only benefit those who attend, but also the local churches they are a part of, all for the glory of God.
